Deck repair and staining
We replace soft boards, re-fasten anything that has worked loose, shim wobbling posts and re-secure ledger flashing where water has been getting behind it. Staining is booked separately once the wood is dry, usually late spring or early autumn, because sealing a damp deck in July traps moisture and peels by the following season.
Fence repair and installation
Leaning posts are almost always frost heave rather than rot at the top, so we dig out and reset below the frost line instead of bracing the symptom. We also replace individual pickets and rails, rehang sagging gates and refit latches that stopped lining up after the ground moved.
Stair repair
Squeaks, loose treads, split stringers and railings that move when you lean on them. Interior stairs usually need the treads re-screwed and glued from underneath rather than face-nailed from the top. Exterior stairs get checked at the base first, since that is where rot starts where the wood meets concrete.
Furniture repair and assembly
Flat-pack units that came out crooked, dining chairs that have gone loose at the joints, drawer runners that fell out of a dresser. We reglue and clamp joints properly rather than driving in another screw, which is what usually splits the frame the second time around.
Closet installation
Full closet systems, wire shelving swapped for solid melamine, or a reach-in converted into hanging and shelf space that actually fits what you own. Everything gets fixed into studs, because closet rods loaded with winter coats are the single most common thing we get called back to re-anchor.
Custom shelving and trim
Built-in shelving in an alcove, floating shelves that hold real weight, baseboard and casing to finish a room that was left bare after a renovation. Trim on older Kitchener and Cambridge houses rarely matches anything at the big-box store, so we can mill or build up a profile to match what is already there.
